THE SOC140 BATTERY ANALYZER (FOR SEALED LEAD-ACID BATTERIES)
The SOC140 is a fast and accurate field test instrument used to determine the state-of-charge (rated capacity) of sealed lead-acid batteries housed in equipment or stored as inventory. This patented instrument has been modified with the latest technology to accommodate the newer, more sophisticated batteries entering the market. While the SOC140 is not the first battery tester on the market, it is the only one using an exclusive testing method that allows the operator to exercise and explore the battery’s internal profile - in less than 43 seconds - measuring the state-of-charge (SOC) of the battery. Because of this short, accurate testing period, the SOC140 will assist an organization in reducing costs, thus increasing profit while providing ultimate reliability. Companies often overlook revenue lost due to a misunderstanding in the importance of battery maintenance. 98% of all ups systems failures are the result of faulty batteries. Reductions in diagnostic test times, better inventory management and finding field faults with equipment already in service are just some of the ways The SOC140 will capture these lost revenues, ensuring a short pay-back period on the cost of the instrument.
The expanded use of sealed lead-acid batteries in equipment such as fire/security alarms, emergency lighting and integrated systems has given rise to the need for more accurate and faster testing methods in order to meet the regulations set up by federal, state and local government agencies regarding duration of power, storage, and transportation. The SOC140 was designed to assist users in meeting these regulations, without the burden of increased maintenance costs or service call times.
A battery’s deterioration may be altered by many factors, but the most common causes of diminished stored energy are self discharge and improper charging. Typically, self discharge is a phenomenon whose rate increases with temperature. Even a battery on float charge for long periods of time often deteriorates below its ability to work at full capacity. It is essential, therefore, to periodically test batteries to determine their SOC, thus assuring required performance characteristics. Newer type batteries require more sophistication in re-charging technology and unless clearly understood during the product development process can result in poor operational performance of the equipment being powered. This is significantly evident in the emergency and security equipment entering the market today. Improper re-charging contributes to battery failure, but misunderstanding of the handling of batteries contributes equally in battery failure rates. Even the best battery made will not work properly if it is not treated correctly.
The SOC140 will assure the user that the battery has been tested to provide sufficient energy in emergency conditions. This portable tester is ideal for all applications including field diagnostic and regulation compliance testing, maintenance or installation check ups and stored battery inventory management. The SOC140 is perfectly suited for both on-site and laboratory needs and is available in its own rugged carrying case with the ability to test in excess of 450 batteries per internal battery charge. The SOC140 will test 6 and 12 volt 3-140 ampere hour batteries using a 43 second test cycle furnishing an evaluation of the battery’s condition. NEW FEATURES ON THE SOC140 The SOC140 is leaps and bounds ahead of it's predecessor Everything you wished for on the earlier models has now become a reality. We spent a lot of time and money in designing and testing a unit that would fulfill all of our customers requests and we put it all together in a package that is smaller than our previous model 36 and 60 but has the superior capability of testing both 6 and 12 volt batteries from 3 to 140 ampere hours. The test cables do not connect inside the case anymore. We found that by putting the connector on the outside of the case, it allowed the user to improve upon time spent repacking the case in order to move to the next test location. Now all you have to do is pop the lid closed on the drastically improved, ultra heavy duty, water proof availability and crush resistant outer shell, walk to the next test location with the cables in hand and still connected to the SOC140 and you're ready for the next test before you even get there. The SOC140 has been equipped with a 0.5 internal ampere hour setting compensation which allows the user to set the instrument to the battery's nearest .5 amp hour. We initiated this improvement while obtaining an improved accuracy over previous models. The end result is a quicker and easier adjustment resulting in further time reduction during test preparation. Finally, we have improved upon our testing method and in doing so have achieved an even quicker test sequence yielding more accurate results than in previous models and also allowing us to improve internal analysis by 17 seconds. BOTTOM LINE: The SOC140 will test a full range 3-140 AHR, 6v and 12v, with higher accuracy in a more compact, rugged and aesthetically appealing package. Reduced setup time between test locations, followed up by a total test analysis of only 43 seconds with more accurate results that mimic a 20 hour discharge. To top it all off we are offering the SOC140 for less than the now obsolete 120, 60, and even less than the 36. So What can you expect to get back from your investment in a SOC140? Time, Money and Ultimate Reliability. We are proud to bring this new product to the marketplace and are absolutely thrilled with the response from our customers. |
